Retiree Privileges

USC Gold Card

The Gold Card is available to retirees with at least 10 years of benefits-eligible employment at the university and who are 55 years or older upon completion of employment at USC. This is a privilege for those who have honorably served USC for many years. A directory of retiree privileges, including Gold Card privileges, is included in this section. For all new Gold Card inquiries, please call the HR Service Center at (213) 821-8100 or go to uschr@usc.edu. Call the Emeriti Center at (213) 740-8921 if you have any questions.

If you qualify for the Gold Card and will soon retire, please fill out the EC Gold Card Application.

Many retiree privileges also are available to your non-USC-employed spouse or domestic partner. You may request a separate card in your spouse or partner’s name.

Please be advised that USC does not guarantee the privileges as lifetime benefits. The Gold Card policy is subject to change at any time by the University at its discretion, without prior notice or liability for such changes.

For faculty inquiring about the special designation “Emerita or Emeritus”:

This is an honorific designation not affiliated with the USC Gold Card or the USC Emeriti Center. It is a process started in a USC school to honor a faculty member who will or who has retired from full time service.

Emeritus/Emerita Status

This honor for faculty is recommended by the academic department chair and conferred by the Provost. You should start the process for obtaining this title by requesting emeritus/a status from the department chair. See the Faculty Handbook and the Planning Your Transition From Full-Time Work in the USC Faculty Portal.
