On April 26th, the USC Peace Garden and SC Garden Club hosted a zoom informational session sponsored by the USC Emeriti Center. The presenters were USC Chan Professor Camille Dieterle and SC Garden Club President Olivia Heffernan.
The Peace Garden is located at 3015 Shrine Pl., just off-campus. This garden space is currently being developed as a garden to be used by USC students and classes, programs serving the community, and to host SOLA Community Peace Center summer campers. The Peace Garden is one of the innovative community-focused projects that are part of USC Chan’s $2.5M ReSPONs Initiative.
The SC Garden Club is a student organization that runs the Parkside Garden on Campus. They meet once a week on Fridays from 2-5pm during the school year to maintain the garden learning skills such as weeding, harvesting and planting produce. More information can be found here: SC_Garden_Club or by contacting uscgardening@gmail.com.
