The USC Emeriti Center partnered up with the USC Roski School of Art and Design for A Journey Into Circle Painting with Professor Keith Mayerson on Tuesday, August 10, 2021, at 10 AM (PST).
Professor Keith Mayerson took us on a journey to paint with watercolors through fun and easy exercises while we learned more about Circle Painting as a fundamental skill in art. With a short and easy lesson on color theory and the color wheel, we created, in the spirit of Kenneth Noland and Minimalist Painting, a “circle painting” of our own invention, with the goal of making a personal work (that involves little to no experience) that has a life of its own (and teaches by practice ideas of what breathes life into painting great works!). With just a few art supplies many beautiful circle paintings were created and connected us all in many ways: culturally, socially, generationally, and more!
For those of you who could not attend the event, a recording of the session can be viewed here: bit.ly/circlepainting810video
If you created a circle painting and would like to share your art, email us a picture of your painting along with your name to emeriti@usc.edu
A big thanks to Professor Mayerson and the USC Roski School of Art and Design for partnering with us for this event! If you would like to explore more of Professor Mayerson’s work, visit his Karma Artist page here.
