Event Recap – Intellectual Journey with Thomas Keens

We were delighted to host the Retired Faculty Association’s Intellectual Journey featuring University Professor Thomas Keens, Keck School of Medicine and head in the division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. In this captivating event, Professor Keens led a compelling discussion, providing an in-depth look into his distinguished academic career.

He joined the faculty at USC in 1977. The author of some 200 peer reviewed publications, he is widely known for his research and practice in cystic fibrosis, sudden infant death syndrome, congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, and home mechanical ventilation. Among his many awards and honors are the Breath of Life Humanitarian Award of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Robert M. McAllister Faculty Mentoring Award of CHLA, the Pediatric Founder’s Award Honoring the Pioneers of Pediatric Pulmonology Medicine and Research of the American Thoracic Society, and the Edwin L. Kendig, Jr. Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pediatric Pulmonology of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

We are immensely grateful for Dr. Keens enlightening presentation and the valuable insights he shared during this Intellectual Journey.
