Intellectual Journey with Thomas Keens

Thomas Keens is Professor Emeritus of Pediatrics, Physiology, and Neuroscience at the Keck School of Medicine and in the division of Pediatric Pulmonology and Sleep Medicine at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. He joined the faculty at USC in 1977. The author of some 200 peer reviewed publications, he is widely known for his research and practice in cystic fibrosis, sudden infant death syndrome, congenital central hypoventilation syndrome, and home mechanical ventilation. Among his many awards and honors are the Breath of Life Humanitarian Award of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, the Robert M. McAllister Faculty Mentoring Award of CHLA, the Pediatric Founder’s Award Honoring the Pioneers of Pediatric Pulmonology Medicine and Research of the American Thoracic Society, and the Edwin L. Kendig, Jr. Award for Lifetime Achievement in Pediatric Pulmonology of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
