Caleb (“Tuck”) Finch is University Professor and ARCO/William F. His research spans such areas as: basic mechanisms in the human biology of aging, especially inflammation and nutritional influences; diseases of aging, especially Alzheimer’s disease; and the influence of air pollution on aging and its associated diseases. These interests have taken him most recently into aging and nutrition in premodern societies, especially ancient Egypt and Greece. In 1983, he founded the NIA-funded Alzheimer Disease Research Center, and he is co-director of the Air Pollution Brais Group. He is the author of six books and 600 articles. He is also a talented and dedicated bluegrass fiddler who co-founded the Iron Mountain String Band in 1963.
