Michael Hernandez Garcia was accepted into Viterbi School of Engineering’s Progressive Master’s Program in Mechanical Engineering. He is using the fall semester to work on his senior project with a group of his peers, as he finishes his undergraduate coursework by December 2024.
This past summer he worked with his dad in the family carpentry business. He extends a thank you to the Trojan Caldwell Family for being there with him throughout his undergraduate journey. He is a member of the “The Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers” (SHPE) and was director for their External Relations Committee. Through SHPE he was able to participate in a number of conventions throughout the US, where top engineering companies came to recruit Hispanic engineering students. Michael also spent two summers as a Residential Advisor for the “USC Upward Bound Math and Science Program,” helping high school students navigate college courses. A personal engineering project he pursued was designing an engine with NX Siemen modeling software
