UC Berkeley Emeriti Academy Presents: Navigating the Challenges of Aging

In contrast with many presentations on the negative changes to be expected in aging, the panelists will focus on take-home messages about what we can do to meet the challenges associated with aging. The panel features an overview by keynote speaker Dr. John Newman, UCSF, followed by three brief presentations by the following experts: Christina Irving, LSCW, Family Caregiver Alliance, on resilience and self care for family caregivers; Wendy Katzman, Professor Emerita, UCSF, on exercise and how to address common pain as we age; and Marilyn Stebbins, Professor Emeritus, UCSF, on medicine management for geriatric patients. Each panelist will offer 2-3 resources for further follow-up.

A brief Q&A will follow each presentation and a longer Q&A will follow the presentations by the 4 speakers. Our intent is to make this a session in which there is interaction between panelists and between the audience and the panelists.
