Debbie Jones was hired as USC’s first Faculty Retirement Navigator in 2014. The position was created to implement the Faculty Early Retirement Program and to develop faculty retirement support through programs, resources, and conducting confidential faculty advising sessions. Her efforts have improved the faculty experience and continue to streamline the retirement process. Within the Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs Office, Debbie also served as the Dual Career Coordinator. In the Emeriti Center, she will continue with Emeritus nominations and awards and will continue Faculty Retirement Support under the Emeriti Center Umbrella. She assists faculty as they prepare to retire as well as to support them through the entire retirement process, collaborating with HR and other support systems. Debbie offers private and confidential retirement sessions to faculty, in addition to participating and creating informational sessions on both campuses. She is available to individuals, and both departmental and school leadership for retirement support. Debbie is the Director of Faculty Navigation and Advancement and Co-Director of the USC Emeriti Center.
Previous to her time at USC, Debbie worked in the financial services industry. She, her husband, and their five children have been deeply involved in the Pasadena community. She thrifts, hikes, is known for her pies, and is a survivor of the John Muir Trail. Debbie is also a Double Trojan, having received both her Masters of Public Administration (MPA) and B.S. International Relations from the University of Southern California.
