The Emeriti Center held a partner event with The Huntington Library on Sunday, May 6, 2018. The event featured Kun Opera in the Chinese Garden. Kun opera, or kunqu, is one of the oldest and most refined forms of opera in China; it was frequently staged in the private gardens of Suzhou during the 16th to 18th centuries. The event was held at the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, and presented by members of the Los Angeles-based Chinese Kwun Opera Society.
This performance was made possible by the Justin Vajna Memorial Fund for Educational Programs in the Chinese Garden. It was organized by The Huntington in conjunction with CHINAWEEK Los Angeles.
