Last updated 10/23/2022

Learn more about fall prevention with Mengzhao Yan, a USC Gerontology doctoral student.

As a public health problem, falls are prevalent among older adults and may lead to serious consequences including morbidity, mortality, institutionalization, high health care costs, etc. According to CDC, falls are a leading cause of injury and injury-related death in older Americans. However, falls are preventable through medical management, physical activities, and environmental modifications. In this intergenerational Zoom learning session, Mengzhao Yan from the Leonard Davis School of Gerontology presented information about falls among older adults and techniques to prevent falls.
