Join us for the Retired Faculty Association’s Intellectual Journey with Professor Emerita Pierrette Hondagneu-Sotelo. Dr. Pierrette Hondagneu-Sotelo will lead a presentation and discussion detailing her academic career.
Pierrette Hondagneu-Sotelo was the Florence Everline Professor of Sociology in the Department of Sociology at the University of Southern California, where she is now Professor Emerita. Her research has examined how Latino immigrants negotiate challenges with informal sector work, varied legal status, and changing gender, family and community relations. As the author or editor of ten books, her research has been supported with fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation for the Humanities, the UCLA Chicano Studies Research Center, UCSD’s Center for U.S.-Mexican Studies, the Getty Research Institute and the School for Advanced Research in Santa Fe, NM.
In 2015, she received the Distinguished Career Award from the American Sociological Association, International Migration Section, and in 2018 she received the Julian Samora Distinguished Career Award from the American Sociological Association, Latina/o Sociology Section.
